Associate Pastor Nominating Committee Covenant

The committee members are honored and humbled to have been selected by the Congregation to serve as the Associate Pastor Nominating committee for the selection of a new Associate Pastor for Webster Groves Presbyterian Church. We recognize the importance of this responsibility and are committed to work with grace, energy, and diligence to serve the Church in this important way.

We commit to prayerfully listen to and trust the voice of the Holy Spirit as God leads us forward as a Congregation. To each other, we commit to be open, honest, receptive, respectful and patient in our work as a committee. Further, we commit to make the work of this committee a priority. We will strive for unanimity in each of our decisions through a process that both welcomes and challenges all voices.

We commit to keep the Congregation informed about our progress, recognizing that the specifics of our work must remain confidential. We will remain mindful that we are serving on behalf of, and for the greater good of, the Congregation.

We seek God’s Blessing for our work.

Meet the Committee

The group of church members below has been called to work together on behalf of the congregation to undertake the process of calling a new Associate Pastor to WGPC. 

cece-strand

Cece Strand has been a member of WGPC for about 18 years. She and her husband, Rich, have three young adult kids: Caroline (24), Andrew (22) and Ryan (20), all of whom were active in Celebration, Celtics and Agape. Cece is the Chief Financial Officer for St. Louis trust & Family Office. At church, she has been on Deacons and the Personnel, Mission and Endowment Commissions as well as currently serving on Session as an Elder. Cece is Chairing the APNC.

Tim Currinder has been a member of WGPC for 25 years.  He and his wife, Nancy, have raised 3 children in the church Andrew (35), Bryan (31) and Sarah (23).  Tim is now retired but worked in the Life Science/Biotech tools industry for 35 years in various Sr. Management roles in sales and marketing. At church Tim is currently an Elder and is a member of the Personnel Commission. He also served on the Mission Commission during his previous tenure on Session as an Elder.

Amy Escott grew up attending Webster Groves Presbyterian Church where she participated in Agape youth group, confirmation programs and music programs. She resumed membership at the church upon moving back to St. Louis in 2010. She and her husband, Jeff, live in the community with their two children. Amy enjoys spending time with her family and friends, cooking, running and gardening. Professionally, Amy directs the Missouri Academy of Child Trauma studies, provides trauma-focused therapy to children and teens in the St. Louis region and consultation nationally to trauma professionals.

Sarah Essen has been a member of WGPC for two years. She and her husband, Victor, have three children. Shortly after her second child's birth, Sarah left her profession as an attorney to care for her daughter, who is disabled with special needs that require full-time care. Sarah has greatly enjoyed participating in the Discipleship Bible study on Thursdays. Her family has appreciated being welcomed into this church, and Sarah is excited to see the church grow in connecting with young families and youth.

Katie Furtick has been a member of WGPC for 5 years but as a child was baptized and confirmed at WGPC. She and her husband, Ryan, have two small children. Katie works as a Financial Solutions Advisor for School Districts as it relates to their Insurance Benefits and IRS compliance. At church, she is involved in the Chapel Renovation Committee and teaches Sunday School.

Scott Lyon has been a member of WGPC for about 2 years and grew up in St. Charles Presbyterian Church. He and his wife, Rebecca, met at the University of Missouri - Columbia Presbyterian college ministry, UKIRK. Being involved in youth group, Sunday School and other church events helped shape Scott into the man he is today. Scott designs HVAC and plumbing systems as a Mechanical Engineer at a design firm called WSP. At church Scott is an Elder on the Faith Formation Commission and leads Theology On Tap.

Brian O’Loughlin has been a part of WGPC for over 10 years when his parents, Steve and Crystal, joined the church. Brian (22) and his sister Natalie (25) both grew up enjoying the youth programs at WGPC including Celtics and Agape. In 2018, Brian joined Agape on their mission trip to Orlando, FL. Brian recently graduated from Butler University with a Business degree in Marketing and Finance and currently works at Nestlé Purina as a Marketing Associate.

Joey Stokes has been a member of Webster Groves Presbyterian Church for 8 years. He and his wife, Anna, have two children, Dylan (16) and Abbey (13). Joey currently works at AccentCare as a Manager of Volunteer Services and Community Outreach. He currently serves on the Tech Team, Environmental Stewardship Committee, and the Faith Formation Commission.
