Get Involved
Before we were members or parishioners, those involved in the earliest congregations were called saints. Not the special ones. Not the perfect ones. Not even those who were always on time for worship. But everyone: everyone in the house of God is a saint, gifted and called into service. WGPC is a household of saints, and every single saint is vital to our life and work. Look around! Listen to the Spirit! You, dear saint, have a place here, and you are needed.
Volunteer Opportunities at WGPC:
Greeters & Ushers
Contact Donna Bellows if you are interested serving on a team of ushers and greeters. Teams serve about once per month. Substitute positions are also available.
Liturgists
Liturgists participate in our Sunday worship service by sharing the call to worship and reading the scripture lesson for the day. You can volunteer as you are available. Contact Debbie Miali
Sunday School
Sunday School will meet after worship at 10:45am during the 2021-2022 school year. We are looking for adults and youth to help by signing up to teach one (or more) four week session in your area of expertise. Read more on the "Children's Ministries" drop down and contact Pastor Ed to volunteer.
Music
Interested in sharing your musical gifts by joining the Chancel Choir, Ely Ringers or Worship Band? Contact Shawn Portell.
Chancel Flowers
Would you like to provide Chancel flowers for a Sunday service? Contact Gay Moppert. The flowers beautify our service, then are deconstructed and delivered to our members in hospitals, nursing homes, etc. to brighten their day. Win-win!
Flower Delivery
Each Sunday after worship the Chancel Flowers are deconstructed and rearranged into small bouquets and delivered to members in care facilities. If you would enjoy joining this group of volunteers, contact Nancy Hansbrough.
Tech Team
We share the good news through our broadcasts which have allowed us to connect with members and non-members all over the country. We are looking for people interested in the Tech Team to help with broadcasts of Sunday worship, weddings, concerts, funerals, etc. No knowledge necessary, just an interest in learning our new video and audio technology. Seventh grade through retired folks are welcome. Contact Tom McNeely.
Nursery
We are looking for patient, dependable, loving volunteers to hold our babies and toddlers! If you are interested in volunteering in the nursery during Sunday morning worship and other special events, contact Carrie Rao.
Communion Servers
Help is needed to serve Communion. The only requirement is that you be either an Elder or a Deacon, either currently serving or have served in the past. It only takes a few minutes of your time and is a very rewarding way to serve. Contact Laurie Goodfellow if you'd like to serve.
Children's Sunday School
Pre-kindergarteners through fifth graders gather in Room 210 on Sundays during the school year from 10:40-11:45am for Follow Me, a curriculum based on practices Jesus did and taught us to do as faithful followers. Each week also features music that prepares the children to sing in worship services throughout the year.
Teachers and adult helpers are needed to serve this important ministry. Contact Patty Mabie if you are interested.
- You don't have to commit to being there every week.
- If you aren't comfortable being a lead teacher, we can use helpers as well!
- We have a curriculum to guide us through the lesson.
- If you aren't already Safe Sanctuary trained, we can get you trained

Youth Advisors
WGPC Celtics (6th-8th grade) and Agape (9th-12th grade) youth groups are in need of advisors.
Celtics advisors build relationships with the youth, listen, play games, and help build a space for belonging. Agape advisors do much of the same, as well as provide models of asking questions and being comfortable with doubt.
Advisors come to Sunday evening youth group meetings during the school year and may also attend Celtics, Confirmation and Agape retreats, other events and mission work along with Agape's annual mission trip. If you are interested in helping out contact Pastor Ed.
Confirmation Guests
Confirmation isn't just about learning what it means to be Presbyterian; Confirmation is about finding one's place within the church community. How do you serve WGPC? Where do your passions, gifts, and callings align in service of our congregation? The Confirmation Class is hoping to join you and participate in your service as we learn more about where God is calling us! Contact Pastor Ed.
