Pastor’s Post

Grace and Peace you!

I wanted to update you on what is happening here at church.  Yesterday, was the first Sunday without a worship service.  It was very strange being here on a Sunday morning without all of you.  A a handful of folks dropped in or came to check on a few things, but it was eerily quiet!   While we were officially closed, a family stopped in who was grieving the loss of someone who had died the day before.  As a result, we planned a funeral.  Later that afternoon we went with forward with the wedding of Becky and Mark which was attended by about 20 family members and friends.  So the ministry of WGPC continued despite the odd circumstances of the day!  The work of the church never really stops-virus or not.  Thanks be to God!

Today, I met with Pastor Hannah and Jan and Shawn.  We have begun to re-imagine worship for the next several weeks and how we will conduct the necessary church business.  Tuesday evening the session will meet and will consider ideas to move our church forward through the next several weeks.  Keep looking at this space on the website throughout the week for updates.  Pastor Hannah and I will work to post at least twice weekly news of the church to keep you informed.  Also the Friday Flash will continue to come to you each week.  If you are not on the list, please contact us.

Things are changing quickly and our daily lives are very different than they were just a week ago.  Yet, God is good and it’s times like these that being part of a faith community is important and of comfort.  As the increasingly prudent thing to do becomes keeping away from large gatherings, it will be more important than ever that we stay connected to each other as a church.  We are devising ways to do this, but in the meantime, don’t hesitate to call Pastor Hannah and me if you need something.  Your church is here for you!

Don’t forget to check in again this week.  The peace and presence of Christ be with you!
