Pastor’s Post

“This is the day that the Lord has made, let us rejoice and be glad in it.”  (Psalm 118:24)

So sings the psalmist in the lectionary reading for this coming Sunday.  Today the sun is out and the day will be beautiful-if we choose it to be.

Each day always presents us with things to rejoice and be glad about.  We do have to choose to notice them however.  The demands of each day- the news, the stock market, becoming a home school teacher, the search for existential meaning and/or toilet paper (is there a difference?)- can all interfere with the God given joy of the day.  This is a good time to add to your Lenten spiritual practices, whatever they may be, the additional practice of taking notice of today.

What is there in your life to rejoice and be glad about?  Many of us are learning, as we quarantine from our usual lives, it’s the simple and ordinary things which bring the most joy.  Take note.

Thanks be to God for giving us this day!  Enjoy!  -Pastor Ed
